Marianne Williamson coined this beautiful passage used at Nelson Mandala's Inaugural Speech in 1994 and it has been such an amazing impact on my mindset.
... "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fears, our presence automatically liberates others."
All day long, we listen to the chatter in our heads, in our minds. For years - decades - I listened to them.
"Who do you think you are to share YOUR story?"
"Why can't you handle your stress - everyone around you can?"
"Your life is not that bad. Look at ________ - they have it so much worse that you!"
I could come up with a million excuses on why I may not be good enough or strong enough for what is put in my path. I have learned that while I cannot necessarily change what happens TO me, I can be 100% in control and in charge of HOW I react to it.
What if... What if I experienced what I have in order to share it with you?
What if I share with you what might be on the other side of that experience you have gone through?
Life is a series of events and life is about experiences - good and bad.
Life is about sharing.
Life is about the relationships we have with others.
How can you better someone's life today? Tomorrow? Next week?
